I have been exploring the relationship between place and the sense of home through various art forms to produce this current work, triggered in part by the names of children carved into the victorian bricks of the workhouse at Wicklewood, Norfolk. The labels given to those children, recorded in the decayed archived minutes, were ingrained into those who received them. Through an installation piece, screenprints and etchings I hope to raise the level of understanding of the inmates, giving authority to their forgotten lives and to stimulate dialogue.

If they speak, it is with bated breath, in undertones, as if conscious that the very walls have ears to hear and tongues to tell.
